Physiology of perception color in abstraction

The physiology of the perception of a work is the subject of the studies in the  SYNESTHETIC GARDEN series. As a color field painting painter, he believes that these large paintings should be viewed so that their surface surrounds the viewer. For this to happen, you have to get close to the painting. The artist’s aim is to optimally perceive the color tone and its luminosity. It is about the best “sense” of color in abstraction, and thus the mood of the picture. Astner builds an intimate closeness between the viewer and the concept contained in the picture. Jan Astnert wants viewers to feel the planned mood physically with their senses. Therefore, he uses „beautiful” and intense colors.

Jan simplified the painting technique. He paints large surfaces flat, even delicately. The thin layer of paint, however, is intense and juicy as it expresses sublimation and infinity. Unique color selection is unique. Among the colors used, we will not find obvious, simple, well-known colors. Quality of the color is also emphasized by unusual color combinations.

He is looking for a medium to describe the persistence of certain states – a person’s striving for happiness. Not the state of happiness itself, but the search for it, which he considers a permanent process. He recognizes it as the goal of life.
